The Things They Say

Yesterday after an all-day 4H Cloverbud dude ranch experience, Megan said, “Mom, I am now totally interested in horses.”

_____

This morning, Timmy crawled in bed with us at 6 a.m. He slid in between us and pulled up the covers.

Tim: Mom? (I pretended I was asleep) Dad?

Eric: What, bud?

Tim: Was Jo— in the Old Testament? (The words were muffled.)

Eric: Was who?

Tim: Was Joseph in the Old Testament?

Eric: Well, there was a Joseph in the Old Testament and a Joseph in the New Testament.

Tim: Oh, I mean Joshua.

Eric: Yes, Joshua was in the Old Testament.

Tim: Okay, then that was a Christophany.

(Thanks #TimeLabVBS for the new vocabulary.)

Our neighbors invited us to swim in their pool today…

Kids: Mom? What time are we going swimming?

Me: Not until this afternoon.

(10 minutes after lunch)

Kids: Mom, it’s afternoon.

Me: Later in the afternoon, guys. It has to warm up a bit.

(15 minutes later)

Kids: What time later this afternoon?

Me: Like 3:00, guys. Stop asking.

(Some time later)

Kids: Mom, what time is it now?

Me: Guys, go find something to do.

Kids: I’m bored. Can I play a screen?

Me: No. Go play.

Kids: Is it time to go swimming yet?
